Veronica La Fofi Dear Potential Sponsor:

My name is Betsy Guerra, and I am a mother of four: 2 girls, a boy, and an angel. Verónica Isabel, best known as “La Fofi”, was a precious little girl that was full of life, bliss, and God’s love. She brought immense joy and immeasurable love to all who surrounded her. My little Fofi went to Heaven in August 2013 as a result of an incomprehensible drowning accident. Although I was sure my life had ended that day, I was wrapped by the Holy Spirit, Who gave me the strength, faith, and love to carry on. Three months later, it was payback time. It was that same Holy Spirit that inspired me to create La Fofi’s Rainbow Foundation, despite my resistance to engage in such an endeavor. But I obeyed, and here I am asking for your support.

La Fofi’s Rainbow Foundation, Inc. is a solely volunteer based organization that serves families that are undergoing difficult situations due to the mishap of at least one child (eg. loss of child, child’s chronic disease or disability, some sort of accident, etc.). It is designed to relieve some of the day-to-day tension, stress, and complications that result from the crisis they are in, while providing hope and promoting faith. Our team accompanies the family with a great sense of empathy and solidarity in their process, and helps them undergo the adaptation and transitions that are exacerbated by the mishaps experienced. It is not a one-time deed, but rather a sort of “adoption” of the family while they go through their crisis. During this process, their needs are defined, met, and redefined as new circumstances arise.
In an effort to continue to keep La Fofi’s memory alive, support the work of her organization, and promote family unity in our community, we are hosting the 2nd Annual Wild Stampede 5k Run and Walk. This fundraising event was originally created and hosted by the MOMS Ministry of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in honor of La Fofi and Kyan, and in benefit of Kyan’s Kause. Its overwhelming success and the strong positive feedback received by participants and attendees motivated us to join forces with the MOMS Ministry to make it happen again this year. This time, we will add our foundation touch to the 5K by adding a carnival-like event that will include rides, food, and other entertainment for families to enjoy after the completion of the race. In essence, we will be joining two events in one: The Wild Stampede 5K that took place in March of 2014 and La Fofi’s Magic Carpet Family Event, which occurred on December of the same year.

Both of these events benefited not for profit foundations. The Wild Stampede’s proceeds were allocated to promoting water safety and providing swimming lessons to our local children, through Kyan’s Kause.

The generous donations contributed by our sponsors and attendees to La Fofi’s Magic Carpet Family Day were used for the following:

Scholarships for children whose families were experiencing hardships and were otherwise going to be forced to withdraw them from their school
Gifts and newborn essentials for two families that endured a tragic loss of one parent,
Encouraging and personalized gifts to parents of children that passed tragically
Caterings for families who were forced to split temporarily due to a child’s treatment that took place out of town
Catering and cleaning services for a family whose child was in recovery for a surgery performed to improve his disability,\
Purchase of beds and bedding sets for 4 children (quadruplets) that immigrated recently and had no beds to sleep in,
Continued support to this family of quadruplets while they prepared for one of the daughter’s surgery to treat her cerebral palsy
Supermarket gift cards for families enduring financial struggles due to child’s health problems
Other gift cards for essentials and gifts given to families in need
Among others. This year, we hope to replenish our funds so that we can continue helping families going through difficult times due to a child’s distress.
